Crick Electron Microscopy Opening Symposium
Organisers: Dr Lucy Collinson, Dr Peter Rosenthal, Dr Raffaella Carzaniga
The Francis Crick Institute in London will host a symposium to celebrate the opening of the new Electron Microscopy Science Technology Platforms, with national and international invited speakers presenting the cutting edge in application of imaging technology to answer critical research questions, from molecules to whole organisms. The symposium will include presentations on new frontiers in imaging and big data analysis.
The symposium will be followed by a day of hands-on workshops and demonstrations, using a wide range of the techniques and technologies housed in the new facilities.
The symposium will be accompanied by an interactive exhibition from our sponsors.

DELMIC products are focused on high performance, user friendly, integrated, solutions.
Correlative microscopy combines functional information from fluorescence microscopy with structural information from the electron microscope. The SECOM platform integrates a fluorescence microscope with a scanning electron microscope. This combination makes it possible to do fast correlative microscopy with high overlay precision. The system is easy to use for both optical and electron microscopists and makes correlation as simple as drag-and-drop.
Delmic’s second product line provides a platform for novel experiments in nanophotonics. The SPARC system is used for high-performance cathodoluminescence detection. It gives maximum collection efficiency through the precise alignment of the mirror with respect to the electron beam combined with top-of-the-line detectors. This makes it possible to probe structures with very low photon yield. The SPARC system also offers the unique feature of doing angle resolved measurements, enabling momentum spectroscopy.
