Event Description

This is the 6th Abercrombie Meeting on Cell Behaviour. It is the British Society for Cell Biology's 2007 Autumn Meeting and is being held jointly with the Royal Microscopical Society.

This meeting has proven to be extremely popular and there are now only 15 accommodation spaces left.
When these places are full we will open registration to day delegates and they will be responsible for finding their own accommodation.

On-line booking is at the foot of this page.

Introduction
The series of Abercrombie meetings have been held since the death of Michael Abercrombie in 1979. Michael was a pioneer in the field of investigating cell behaviour using timelapse microscopy.

One interesting aspect of these meetings, since they take place every five years, is that they chart very clearly advances in our understanding of cell motility; perhaps like an extended time-lapse film of cell migration research. Something that Michael would appreciate.

Bursaries
Both Societies have bursary schemes to help members and non-members attend meetings. Click here for details of the BSCB bursaries, and here for the RMS schemes.

Abstract submissions
Abstracts of 250 words are invited for consideration for poster presentation. A limited number of oral presentations will be selected from these. The deadline for submission is 31st July 2007.

The Word template for abstracts can be downloaded here.

Completed abstracts should be sent to Victoria Lee

The 2002 meeting
A review of the 2002 meeting can be found here.

Scientific Organisers
The meeting is being organised by
- Michelle Peckham (Leeds)
- Peter Clark (Imperial College)
- Anne Ridley (Randall Institute, KCL)

The invited speakers have been attracted from all over the world and include Gary Borisy and Pascale Cossart.

The programme and a full list of invited speakers are available here

There will be prizes awarded for the best posters and speakers. Short oral presentations will be selected from submitted poster abstracts.

Event Accommodation

St Catherine's College is one of the newer Oxford Colleges and was designed by Danish architect, Arne Jacobsen, in the early 1960s. It is a striking venue and a must-see for anybody with an interest in contemporary architechture.

The college is close to the landmark features of Oxford and is just a short walk from beautiful parkland and great museums.

You can choose to attend the symposium either as a residential or day-delegate. Please select the appropriate option on the registration form.

Accommodation will be in en-suite rooms for the nights of Sunday 9th, Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th of September.
The accommodation package includes breakfast, lunches, teas and coffees on Monday to Wednesday, and evening meal (with wine) on Sunday to Tuesday.

This package offers excellent value for money and early booking is encouraged as places within college are strictly limited.
