
The intensive course includes teaching sample preparation and cryo-microscopy techniques for both scanning and transmission electron microscopy.Participants from both academia and industry who wish to learn new skills or update their knowledge are encouraged to attend.
The Bioimaging Unit at Rothamsted Research is a state-of-the-art facility for cryo electron microscopy in partnership with Gatan UK, Leica UK and Jeol UK.It is equipped with both scanning and transmission electron microscopes.

Topic: Techniques covered will include the Tokuyasu method, rapid freezing of samples including high pressure freezing, freeze substitution, cryo-sectioning, thin film TEM and cryo-transfer and freeze fracture cryo-SEM. Attendees will have the opportunity to use state of the art equipment and instrumentation from a range of manufacturers.
Format: Tutorials, demonstrations and hands-on practical sessions will be led by technical experts from Gatan, Leica, Diatome and Jeol. Keynote speakers will supplement the techniques taught.
Location/Airport: London-Luton airport is 10 mins away by frequent train and offers low cost flights from most European countries.
Transportation: Rothamsted Research has excellent rail and road links.Central London is 25 minutes by frequent train and the M1 motorway (exit J9) is within 5 miles.
Accommodation: Student style accommodation with shared bathrooms is available on-site at Rothamsted Manor. Please note that the rooms are not en-suite and very basic.
