Hugh E Evans - University of Birmingham

The seventh conference in this popular series will be held at The University of Chester, nestled in the picturesque Roman town of Chester. There are good transport connections with Manchester, Liverpool and London.

A wide range of oxidation phenomena will be discussed, from oxide nucleation and thin film growth through to scale failure and protective coatings. Materials of interest will include intermetallics and composites as well as metals and ceramics in both monolithic and coated forms. Four topic areas will be highlighted during the meeting:

Advanced and Emerging Techniques
The role of transient oxides during high temperature testing
Segregation to oxide grain boundaries and interfaces
Oxide failure mechanisms and the influence of oxidation test methods
