AFM & SPM 2022 replaces the biennial UKSPM series of conferences.

This year the meeting will run over three days. Day 1 and day 3 will only be held virtually via Zoom. Day 2 will be held virtually however, you also have the option to attend day 2 in-person, at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Sir Robert Hadfield Building, University of Sheffield. When registering, you can either select a virtual ticket for 3 days or a hybrid ticket, which means you would attend day 1 & 3 virtually and in-person on day 2. The virtual ticket is free and there is a small charge for the hybrid ticket. Please see the 'Information' tab for further details.

We hope this hybrid approach will provide an opportunity for the UK community to come together while maintaining the international feel for the meeting that the fully virtual AFM & SPM 2020 had and avoid the travel issues that remain inevitable at the moment.

We have an exciting programme of invited speakers and contributed talks, posters and flash presentations from across all aspects of scanning probe microscopy, from biological imaging, through nano infra-red spectroscopy to UHV non-contact AFM. There will be a strong focus on methods with “nuts-and-bolts” talks to complement some of the lectures, break-out rooms for speakers to provide an opportunity to ask in-depth questions, and Panel meetings where developments in the field can be discussed.

We very much look forward to meeting you, Alice Pyne and Jamie Hobbs.
