Dr Peter Evennett Hon FRMS receives RMS President's Award
Educator and ambassador for microscopy has long and celebrated association with the RMS
The RMS was delighted to present Dr Peter Evennett, Hon FRMS, with his President's Award in person last week.
RMS Vice President Susan Anderson and Chief Executive Allison Winton joined Peter and his wife Katherine over lunch at a restaurant near their new home in Belper, Derbyshire. It was an opportunity to present the award - which was announced in 2020 - and to thank Peter for all that he has done for the Society during his career.
The RMS President's Award recognises an exceptional voluntary contribution to the work of the RMS.
Peter has a long and distinguished association with the Society, and is well known as an educator and ambassador for microscopy. Over decades of running microscopy courses and other outreach activities, Peter has enriched the development of microscopists on the international stage, imparting his knowledge and enthusiasm to countless students, enthusiasts and the wider public.
Among his many roles within the organisation, Peter was Scientific Editor of The Proceedings of the RMS – now infocus Magazine - for more than 10 years, and was instrumental in orchestrating the Society’s 150th anniversary celebrations in 1988-89.
He continues to devote his time and expertise to RMS activities, and remains an active member of the RMS History Committee.
