Google marks 'birthday' of celebrated microscopist Hans Christian Gram
Bacteriologist hailed from Copenhagen – host city of emc2020!
The RMS was delighted to spot today’s microscope-themed Google ‘Doodle’, in recognition of Hans Christian Gram’s 166th ‘birthday’.
The Danish bacteriologist, who died in 1938, is famous for developing the ‘Gram stain’ – still a standard technique to classify bacteria and make them more visible under a microscope.
Fittingly, he also hailed from Copenhagen – host city of the the forthcoming emc2020. Registration for this exciting event is due to open later this year. Find out more and keep up to date with the latest announcements at www.emc2020.eu
