The EMS Outstanding Paper Award 2018
The award will go to papers containing original work in the field of microscopy which will be judged on scientific merit, technical and general quality, expected impact, originality and relevance to microscopy.
As every year, the Executive Board of the European Microscopy Society (EMS) is very pleased to organize the "Outstanding Paper Award" (OPA) for papers published in 2018. The award will go to papers containing original work in the field of microscopy which will be judged on scientific merit, technical and general quality, expected impact, originality and relevance to microscopy. One paper will be chosen in each of the following categories:
(i) Instrumentation and Technique Development
(ii) Materials Sciences
(iii) Life Sciences
The prize consists of 1000 € (one thousand) plus a glass plaque for the first author(s) (per awarded paper) in each category and certificates for all authors.These plaques will be presented during one of the EMS meetings in 2019.

Nominations may arise from any individual EMS member who is not part of the author list of the nominated paper. A cover letter from the eligible EMS member nominating the paper and describing why this paper is a good candidate for the EMS OPA must be included. The letter should also include the category to which the paper is nominated (i.e. Instrumentation and Technique Development, Materials Sciences or Life Sciences).
For the 2018 awards, papers published (or accepted for publication AND already published on line as an accepted paper, the link has to be provided*) from January 1 to December 31, 2018 in peer-reviewed journals with known impact factor can be submitted for consideration until January 15, 2019.

Winners will be announced towards the end of the first quarter of 2019.
