Call for Papers - Primers in Microscopy

Journal Banner.jpg

The Journal of Microscopy is publishing a special issue featuring papers on the theme of ‘Primers in Microscopy'. These papers are intended to introduce researchers to particular microscopy methods, offering a theoretical foundation and examples of projects that have benefitted from such methods. They will also feature practical tips covering sample preparation, image acquisition and processing to help get practitioners started. The aim is to provide an accessible entry point into a range of microscopical techniques and approaches.

These papers can be structured as review papers, methods or protocols, following the guidelines to authors.

They should include:

  • An overview of the theory - pointing to other sources for more in-depth reading
  • Project design considerations
  • Sample preparation
  • Microscopy, including how and where to access the microscopy, where relevant (e.g. point to national facilities / euro bioimaging nodes etc as appropriate)
  • Image/Data analysis
  • Example results (pointing to published literature, either one 'showcase' example or several examples of the range of results possible)

If you would like to contribute a primer please contact the editors - Michelle Peckham or Rebecca Thompson beforehand to discuss your idea.
