What is a Microscope Activity Kit?
Find out more about the RMS Microscope Activity Kit Scheme, our free science resource for Primary Schools.
Would you like to bring an unseen world to life in lessons, or run an after school club for young explorers? If so, we can help.
The RMS Microscope Activity Kit Scheme is completely free for all UK Primary Schools.
A Kit can be borrowed for an entire term and contains enough microscopes and resources for a whole class of children!
With 6 curriculum-mapped activities spanning both Key Stage 1 and 2, there are plenty of ways to bring microscopy to your classroom. You can even use the microscopes in your own science lessons, maybe you could take them on a minibeast hunt, or find out what's living in your pond!
We organise the delivery and collection of the Kits, all we ask is that you let us know how you got on!
You do need to be employed by the school to request a Kit.
Please note due to increasing popularity we are fully booked until Spring 2026 therefore not currently taking anymore application requests.
Microscope Activity Kits and Covid-19The Microscope Activity Kits are intended to be used in small groups and a great deal of contact is required with equipment, in particular the eye pieces of the microscopes. There is a set of guidelines for safe use of the kits. |
