Open Call for Nominations
The RMS have issued an open call for nominations for 2 Ordinary Members to join the RMS Council.
The RMS Council has a specific remit to ‘direct and manage the affairs and property of the Society’. On matters requiring an immediate decision the RMS Executive Committee are empowered to act on behalf of the RMS Council. In particular we also expect our Council Members to support, promote and encourage their networks to publish in our Journal
All members of the RMS Council shall be elected at the Society’s Annual General Meeting, which will take place on Wednesday 30 September 2026 at the Royal Society of Chemistry in London. Members each serve for a maximum three-year term of office.
The RMS Council meet 3 times per year (as well as the AGM) and all Council members are expected to read all papers, commit to attend all meetings, and agree to follow the RMS Code of Conduct.

Following the deadline for applications, all submissions will be reviewed by the RMS Nominations Committee (for an overview of who sits on our Nominations Committee and what the structure is please visit our Governance webpage), who will review and assess the applications, before making a recommendation to the RMS Executive Committee and then to the RMS Council for approval.
Whilst reviewing nominations, particular attention will be given to what each prospective council member can bring to the role. Once a decision has been made, each applicant will be informed by email as to the outcome of their application. If you are not successful in applying this year, we encourage you to apply during future Open Calls for nominations.
