If you are an early career researcher, normally within 12 years of graduating, or are employed in a support role in microscopy or cytometry then these are for you.
If you have been a member of the Royal Microscopical Society for more than one year, at the time of application, and have been accepted to present a paper involving microscopy - either orally or as a poster - you are eligible to apply for support from this fund.
The same eligibility criteria applies as with a standard travel bursary, however the application is made to help towards the costs of registration fees to attend virtual conferences where you are presenting, rather than the costs of travelling to them.
It is recognised that many RMS Members are engaged in outreach activities where some external funding would help with those little extras, such as consumables, refreshments etc. Council has set aside a special bursary fund for this specific purpose of up to £100 per application.
The RMS, in collaboration with the Microscopy Society of America (MSA), have set up an award to encourage our young RMS members (students and post-doctoral research associates) to participate in the annual Microscopy & Microanalysis conferences.
