NPL buildingThis popular meeting will be returning in 2012 to the venue where it first began.

In the 20 years since the first meeting at NPL attracted 16 people, the technique of EBSD has advanced enormously in its capability and range of applications.

It is no longer just a tool used by research teams investigating the technique, and is beginning to be used routinely to provide quantified measurements of microstructure for industrial research development and production purposes. At the same time research continues to improve the method itself by increasing accuracy, speed and range of applications.

This meeting will seek particularly to address:

• Current and future developments of the technique, with speakers addressing the state of the art and potential improvements in both detector technology and in the range of applications, especially 3D characterisation and strain
• The use of EBSD in industry, with a dedicated ½ day Industry Session of interest to both current users and technologists interested in its application to their industry. Accuracy, reproducibility and standardisation will all be discussed

The meeting will boast a fantastic line up of international speakers, a well supported manufacturer exhibition and will be accepting abstracts for both poster and oral presentation.
