On 22 October 2007, Brian J Ford marked the anniversary of Leeuwenhoek’s 375th birth with a an illustrated lecture at Cambridge University. Professor Ford showed many of the original images he had obtained, both with original microscopes and with modern replicas, reminding us of the power of a single lens in the right hands.
Here he reminds modern microscopists of the images that could be obtained more than three centuries ago.
