Stefanie Reichelt is the founder of ArtCell at the Cancer Research Institute in Cambridge. Her scientific images are created through etchings and prints based on what she can see down the microscope rather than the photomicrographs we have come to expect. This article displays her unique insight into the smallest parts of the human body.

When viewed using a microscope, all parts of the human body - from chromosomes to sperm – can be visually arresting. My work is inspired by scientific images of cells from organisms as diverse as algae and fruit flies, and I find the detail of the scientific images a rich source of ideas for abstract etchings.
