Journal of Microscopy: New Special Issue announced

'High-Performance Computing and cloud-based solutions for image analysis in life and physical sciences'

The Data Analysis in Imaging (DAIM) RMS science section and international collaborators are launching a special issue of the Journal of Microscopy, with the topic: “High-Performance Computing and Cloud-based solutions for image analysis in life and physical sciences”.

The guest editors have arranged two online meetings (designed to cover ‘East’ and ‘West’ time zones) to meet with all colleagues who might be interested in contributing manuscripts for this special issue.

The meetings take place on 15 October 2025 at the following times:

  • ‘East’ time zone meeting: 2pm AEST (Brisbane)
  • ‘West’ time zone meeting: 11am EDT (New York)

Anyone interested in attending either of these online meetings should contact Rocco D’Antuono [email protected] for sign-in details.

During this initial meeting, the aim is to discuss the content of this special issue and register your interest. With this, the hope is to facilitate the creation of working groups to cover different topics in collaboration. Especially if you're interested in working on a collaborative article and/or a review, you are encouraged to attend or reach out.

The DAIM special issue can include invited manuscripts, original research articles, reviews, and methods & protocols.

The deadline for manuscript submission will be 28 February 2026.

Guest Editors:

Rocco D’Antuono (The Francis Crick Institute - DAIM RMS, UK)

Nicholas Condon (University of Queensland, Australia)

Beth Cimini (Broad Institute, US)
