After the inaugural meeting back in 2019, the University of Playmouth anticipated that SW-EM would become an annual event, but a global pandemic had other ideas! However, SW-EM now returns for 2022 with a new summer date, and hopefully a sunny Plymouth venue!

SW-EM will once again be spread across two days, starting and ending with a networking lunch on each day that we hope you will join us for. There will be a sit-down evening meal, an exhibition and chance to chat to manufacturers about proposals, products, or collaborations, as well as talks from both funders (i.e. UKRI funding councils) and industry.  

This event is open to anyone working in or with electron microscopy, in an academic, research, or commercial environment, and all are welcome to attend! All refreshments are included in the registration, including the drinks reception and optional conference dinner.

Accommodation is available at a discounted rate of £82 per night (including breakfast) at our partner hotel, Jury’s Inn Plymouth, just a short walk from the main campus; please use the code JISWEM170722 when booking. Other accommodation options, including hotels and traditional bed & breakfasts, are also available within walking distance of the University.

Each SW-EM group or lab/facility is encouraged to present an update about projects or instruments that may be of interest to the SW-EM community. This may include opportunities for collaboration, new instruments that are now available for use, or job opportunities and student placement ideas. If you are a group/facility leader or representative, please indicate on your registration form whether you would like to speak on Day 1 as part of the programme.
