Timings

The programme will start on Sunday evening at 17:30 hours and finish on Thursday after lunch at 13:00 hours. This will be an in person meeting and there will not be the opportunity to attend online.

The fees stated below are for attendance to the whole meeting.

A late registration fee of £50 will be added after 12:00 GMT on Friday 3 March and the invoice option on registration will close at the same time.  Registration has now closed.

Admittance to this event is for registered and authorised attendees.  Unfortunately we cannot permit access to visitors or allow non-registered persons to enter the meeting or exhibition areas.  If you have any questions, please contact the RMS event contact for this event.

By agreeing to the terms and conditions of booking you have agreed to abide by the Code of Conduct set out for all attendees at RMS Events.  

You will have the opportunity during the registration process to advise us of your dietary requirements.

Posters

If your abstract has been selected for a poster presentation by the Organisers, please note your poster should be no greater than AO in size (1189 x 841 mm) and must be in Portrait orientation.  We will provide poster boards and materials to attach your poster to the boards.  Posters will be listed and numbered in the conference programme that you receive shortly before the event.

Conference Dinner

The conference dinner will take place on Wednesday 5 April at the The Assembly House, Theatre Street, Norwich NR2 1RQ.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not included in the registration fees.  We recommend you book your accommodation at Broadview Lodge (University of East Anglia - UEA accommodation), which is on campus and a twenty five minute walk to the John Innes Centre, or you can travel by bus.  The cost for single occupancy of a room, is £260 for bed and breakfast from Sunday night through to Thursday morning inclusive.    Please book directly via the Broadview Lodge website on a first-come first-served basis.  There is parking available at Broadview Lodge. Further information will be sent out to you, by email, nearer the time of the meeting. A pdf meeting booklet will also be sent out to you, by email, just before the meeting. To be more sustainable we will only be providing an electronic copy of the pdf booklet.

Accessibility

The lecture theatre, poster session, toilets and exhibition in The John Innes Centre are accessible to wheelchair users and parking available.  Accessible accommodation is available at Broadview Lodge Hotel and parking available.  The Assembly House is accessible to wheelchair users and parking available.  If you do have accessibility requirements, please do not hesitate to get in contact with us and let us know your requirements.  

Covid-19 Attending RMS Events

We are not requiring people to test for covid-19 in order to attend our events, however, we advise anyone with symptoms of Covid-19 not to attend our in-person events. The list of recognised symptoms can be found at gov.uk.

Masks and face coverings at events

The RMS has been following government guidance with regard to wearing masks and face coverings in public spaces. We are not mandating that attendees must wear masks at RMS events, but we welcome anyone to do so if they wish.  There will be spare masks, hand sanitiser and covid tests available at the RMS welcome desk for anyone that requires them.

Meeting Waiver

When signing up for the event, you acknowledge that the Royal Microscopical Society are not liable for non-attendance due to travel disruptions, health problems or any other reason that might lead to an attendee not being able to attend the event.  You are strongly advised to ensure you have appropriate insurance.  Substitutions of attendees may, of course, be made subject to dietary requirements being available if at short notice, providing you inform us in writing. 

Venue

The Botanical Microscopy Meeting 2023 will take place at The John Innes Centre, Norwich Research Park, Norwich, NR4 7UH.  There is no parking available at the John Innes Centre for those attending the meeting, except for on Sunday.

 

Getting from Norwich airport (NWI) to Broadview Lodge (UEA accommodation)

There is not a direct bus route from Norwich Airport to the Broadview Lodge accommodation.  Travellers would need to get a bus into the city centre and then another out to UEA (University of East Anglia).  The bus stops are on the Cromer Road adjacent to Tesco Express, so around an 8 minute walk from the airport.  There is some helpful information on the Norwich Airport website, which includes bus departure boards: https://www.norwichairport.co.uk/to-and-from-the-airport/

Getting from Norwich train station to Broadview Lodge/UEA Accommodation

There is a direct bus route from Norwich train station to the Broadview Lodge accommodation.  Bus routes 25 and 26 are the best routes for the train station to the UEA accommodation.  

When leaving on Thursday you can only use bus number 26 to get directly from John Innes Centre to the train station.

If you want to collect your bags from the accommodation and then go on to the train station you can use bus number 26 from John Innes Centre to the accommodation and then catch either bus number 25 or 26 to go to the train station.

Getting from Broadview Lodge (University of East Anglia - UEA accommodation) to John Innes Centre

The easiest way is to walk and takes approximately 25 minutes, alternatively you can take a bus. There are no buses that run on a Sunday between Broadview Lodge and John Innes Centre.
