IMC21: Almost 1,700 abstracts submitted in fantastic response from microscopy community

A massive 1,694 talk and poster abstracts have been submitted for the 21st International Microscopy Congress (IMC21), coming to Liverpool this summer.

With submissions now closed, the figure represents a fantastic response from the global microscopy community and ensures a blockbuster scientific programme lies in wait for attendees.

IMC21 will consist of three congress themes, comprising 32 individual symposia covering all forms of microscopy and imaging across the sciences. It will also feature pre-congress workshops, the IFSM Young Scientist Assembly (YSA/ECR), and a world-class exhibition showcasing the latest microscopy products and technologies.

RMS Chief Executive Sali Davis said: "We would like to thank everyone who has submitted abstracts for IMC21, and for supporting this crucial event for the global microscopy community. We are absolutely thrilled with the repsonse, which means we can look forward to a fantastic scientific programme and a truly action-packed Congress."

IMC21 takes place in Liverpool, UK, from 31 August - 4 September 2026, with pre-congress events on 30 August.
