Anatomy is often presented in two dimensions, as photographs, but by presenting anatomical information in three dimensions we can more rapidly visualise how a complex structure is arranged. 3D is especially beneficial when examining branching structures such as nerves and blood vessels that in a 2D picture may appear to join when in fact they cross.
