RMS Early Career Award 2026: Thank you to all our applicants!

Great response from early career microscopists as nominations deadline passes

The applications deadline for the 2026 RMS Early Career Award has now closed, following a fantastic response from the microscopy community.

A total of 21 nominations have been received for the award, which recognises the achievements of an outstanding early career scientist in their contribution to microscopy, image analysis, or flow cytometry. This contribution may be through an impressive application of imaging to research, development of imaging or image analysis tools, an inspiring public engagement initiative, or a demonstration of exceptional support to other imaging scientists.

Applications are welcomed from scientists working in any discipline of microscopy, flow cytometry, or data analysis in imaging. The competition is open to current students (Undergarduate / Masters / PhD) or those within eight years of starting in the field.

Applicants will now be shortlisted, with the top three invited to present a five-minute flash talk during the RMS Microscopy: Impact and Advances, Innovation, Impact 2026 Meeting, which will take place at the Royal Society of Chemistry, London on 30 September 2026.

The 2026 award-winner will receive the RMS Early Career Award and a £100 cash prize.
