The series of Abercrombie meetings have been held since the death of Michael Abercrombie in 1979. Michael was a pioneer in the field of investigating cell behaviour using timelapse microscopy.
One interesting aspect of these meetings, since they take place every five years, is that they chart very clearly advances in our understanding of cell motility; perhaps like an extended time-lapse film of cell migration research.
There will also be a trade exhibition at this meeting.
This will be a popular meeting and early booking is advised.

Further information for delegates
About the symposia
The symposia is conducted in English and all materials are prepared in English.
Venue and Travel
The symposia will be taking place at St Catherine's College, Manor Road, Oxford, OX1 3UJ, UK.
The accommodation and symposia will all take place at St Catherine's.
For more information on the St Catherine's College, please visit www.stcatz.ox.ac.uk.
If you are flying to the UK, we recommend that you travel to London Gatwick or London Heathrow airport as they have excellent bus links to Oxford.
If travelling by train, it is easiest to get a taxi directly to St Catherine's (this should cost no more than £10). Alternatively it is a 20 minute walk through the city centre.
I would strongly advise delegates not to drive to the symposia. Oxford is unfortunately renowned for being car unfriendly. Parking is both scarce and expensive. St Catherine's has a very small car park and we can arrange for a space only in extenuating circumstances. Please contact Victoria@rms.org.uk to request a space. You will NOT be able to park at St Catherine's without prior authorisation from us.
Registration, Accommodation and Meals
Registration will be taking place on Sunday 24th June from 17.00 – 18.00 at the Junior Common Room (JCR).
At registration you will receive the following:
a name badge, a pack including programme and delegate list, and a pack of RMS information.
You will be requested to wear your badge at all times during the symposia.
Immediately after registration there will be a dinner in the St Catherine's college dining hall. This will be followed by a keynote lecture, given by Roberto Mayor.
Accommodation
If you choose to register with accommodation, you will have 3 nights’ at St Catherine's Student halls. The rooms are very basic, en-suite and student style. Bed linen and towels are provided. The rooms do not have televisions.
Meals
Breakfast on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is included and will be served in the dining hall.
Lunches will be provided in the dining hall and tea and coffee will be served outside the lecture theatre and in the exhibition.
