Oxford Particle Imaging Centre

OPIC supports FIB-milling, single particle, and tomography workflows. Single particle EM allows high-resolution imaging of protein(s)/ viruses. FIB-milling produces a central section ‘lamellae’ of ~200 nm thickness, which, with tomography, enables high-resolution visualisation of cellular processes in samples otherwise too thick for TEM. Our FIB-SEMs are equipped with fluorescence modules for correlation and targeting. We have the unique capability of preparing/collecting data on BSL3 viruses.
