Chris Hawes Award for Outreach and Education

Among the awards now open for nominations is the newly-established Chris Hawes Award for Outreach and Education.

This has been created to honour Professor Chris Hawes, former President of the RMS, for his contributions to the Society, and his particular contributions to Outreach and Education.

This award will normally be made to nominees who have made a substantial contribution either to the field of education, or to outreach and public engagement over the course of their career.

The deadline for nominations for this award is 24 April 2020.

Applicants may self-nominate or be nominated by a colleague or collaborator. All Applications and nominations should be submitted to Amanda Jarman ([email protected]).

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae (which should list any relevant publications and/or outreach activities), and a letter to summarise why they wish to be considered for the award.

The letter should include a statement (maximum length, one page) outlining the merits of the candidate and their suitability for the award outlining the particular contribution this nominee has made to the field. Alternatively, nominators should submit this information for the nominated candidate.

Nominated candidates will be contacted after the closing date to confirm that they are happy for their nomination to be considered. The relevant committee will consider applications and the winner will receive complimentary registration to the meeting at which they will be presented with their award.  They may also be invited to produce an article for infocus.
