The 2014 Meeting
Scientific Organiser: Ben Britton, Imperial College London
Location: Charles Darwin House, 12 Roger Street, London WC1N 2JU, UK
The annual EBSD meeting offers an opportunity for users and developers of EBSD and related techniques to meet and discuss their work, with a two day series of technical talks and a lively poster session. The meeting has been running for over twenty years and we regularly welcome top academics from the UK, European and global research community. This meeting will include talks that focus not only on technique development but also include applications to real engineering problems and scientific questions, as well as approaches to combine data obtained using EBSD with other techniques. EBSD is widely used to develop further understanding in the fields of engineering, materials science and earth sciences. With our meeting being hosted in London this year, we hope you'll take the opportunity to join us and spark a lively debate on current approaches and future developments in this exciting and evolving research field. There will be a one day exhibition on Monday 31 March.
Confirmed Invited Speakers
Dr Chris Gourlay, Imperial College London, on 'Exploring the solidification of intermetallics with EBSD'
Dr David Mainprice, Université Montpellier, on 'Application of MTEX the free open source MATLAB toolbox to analysing EBSD measurements of geological specimens'
Professor Philip Prangnell, University of Manchester, on 'EBSD analysis to understand Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) in Titanium'
Dr Aimo Winkelmann, Bruker-Nano, Berlin, on 'Improved analysis of EBSD patterns'

Exhibiting and Sponsoring Companies
There will be a one day exhibition on Monday 31 March. If you are interested in exhibiting at or sponsoring this event, please email Chloe Goode.
EDAX is a leading provider of innovative materials characterization systems encompassing Energy Dispersive Spectrometry (EDS), Wavelength Dispersive Spectrometry (WDS), Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) and Micro X-ray Fluorescence (XRF). The company designs, manufactures, distributes and services hardware and software solutions for a broad range of industries, educational institutions and research organizations.
Oxford Instruments provides leading-edge tools for imaging, characterisation, manipulation and fabrication at the nanometer scale. Used on electron microscopes (SEM and TEM) and ion-beam systems (FIB), our materials characterization tools include systems for EDS, EBSD and WDS - while nanomanipulation and gas injection systems allow for fabrication and sample preparation.
There will be a one day workshop on Wednesday 2 April 2014 on measurements and assessment of strain with electron backscatter diffraction. Click here for further details.
